Tractor trundle for charity
TRACTORS GALORE: On Boxing Day a convoy of farm vehicles decked out in Christmas finery trundled along the roads of North Somerset and beyond on a massive charity fundraiser. The one that included Nailsea and Backwell on its route was organised by George Atwell, of CHJ Atwell & Sons at Grove Farm, Claverham. He raised more than £ 5,000 for The Farming Community Network. Others collected for the British Heart Foundation. A bystander said: "I hope everyone had a great day and all those who were in the vintage tractors hope you have now defrosted and warmed up."

Christmas Dubs town tour
LIGHT MY WAY: These are our favourite photos from the Christmas Dubs 2021 fundraiser. Some images are shared from its Facebook page, others taken by Ring O'Bells staff and at Walnut Close by Phil Williams. Big thanks to all the photographers and those who donated generously. Charity fundraisers Sam and Steve Wright organise the Christmas van tour for the Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal. Last year £8,159.16 went towards helping the children being treated at the Bristol Children's Hospital and supporting their families. With a scheduled route and some extra pitstops at Backwell, Clevedon, Long Ashton, Wraxall and Nailsea Kebab Kitchen the tour was spread over nine nights from Tuesday, December 7, 2021. See final photo - a whopping £12,500 in 2021!!!
NAILSEA SKIES: The concept of 'Red sky at night, shepherd's delight. Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning' first appears in the Bible in the book of Matthew. It is an old weather saying often used at sunrise and sunset to signify the changing sky and was originally known to help the shepherds prepare for the next day's weather. tThank you to everyone for your contributions
Final farmers' market 2021
MERRY MARKET: It was market day in Nailsea on Saturday, December 18, and time for some last minute Christmas shopping. The town centre was bustling with stalls galore, shoppers, carol singers, musicians, the vicar handing out mince pies, Marie Curie charity collectors, Nailsea Musicals panto people and a delivery man laden with parcels but Father Christmas temporarily had popped to Nailsea Tesco on his float - it was a good natured event with nearly everyone wearing masks. The next date is Saturday, January 15
Eat:Nailsea festive street food and drink festival
CHRISTMAS CHEER: Many thanks to Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds for an absolutely fabulous and first time for Nailsea an eat festive street fair/fare. Thanks to all the entertainers and to the historic characters promoting a Nailsea Town Council survey on the future of our community. Thank you also to our local traders who supported the event and from what we could see did brisk business on the back of the festival. And last but not least a big thank you to Mandy Williams who you can find at @willsamanda on Instagram for the videos. We nearly missed the Santa switching on the lights on the Somerset Square tree which was hidden behind the many stalls. It was lovely seeing the great and the good of Nailsea braving the sunny but cold December day - thanks to rain for staying away - we also missed the brave bare breasted dancer who perhaps had drunk up his cider a little too quickly but all-in-all another magnificent day, see our What's On page for the next time the Eat:Festival is in town...
