Match of the day
GREAT TRY: Italy 3-2 England after extra time and penalty shootout - not coming home this time…
From Wembley to Wimbledon Sunday, July 11, is a big day for sports fans.
Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the defending champion and No 1 seed takes on Matteo Berrettini of Italy, the No 7 seed, who is playing in his first grand-slam final.
Djokovic plays Berrettini at 2pm on Sunday on Centre Court.
The previous day the newspapers captured a dreadful shot of our MP Liam Fox pulling an unintentional (we believe) funny face while seated in the Royal box.
And the 2020 Euro final England vs Italy kicks off at 8pm with the BBC and ITV broadcasting the final simultaneously.
Southern Coop manager Joanne Gilliver said the store at the corner of Hannah More Road will be closing at 7.45pm.
Likewise, Tesco Nailsea is closing at that time with Coates House shutting at 3pm after lunchtime service.
The Royal Oak replaced its outdoor tv which got smashed during an earlier game but Grove Sports & Social Club is fully booked as it had to limit entry after some staff received the NHS Covid-19 App pings.
While Nailsea United FC posted this heartfelt message for fans.
It said: “Today is the day! First major cup final in most of our lifetimes and seriously cannot contain the excitement. But it’s a lot more than just football…it is life! It’s about making memories, it’s having each other’s back, it’s having a chat, it’s sticking together and reminiscing about those we’ve all sadly lost. We aren’t just a football club, we are a family, we are friends, we are comrades, we are together through thick and thin and we are part of an amazing community. #WeAreUnited. There is an incredible amount of love in and around this club and locally, so a heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone. We really do make a difference together. So, once again we will be paying tribute to ‘Super Tobes’ on the minute 10. Please join us wherever you are in remembering this incredible and beautiful guy. Let’s hope the lads bring football home for you mate.”
Beautifully expressed, much loved Toby Riley, aged 18, who died earlier this week is pictured in his Priority coach football kit.
To date a Go Fund Me for Toby's Big Send Off has raised £17,749. To donate go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/tobys-big-send-off.
There are two local competitions running.
At Touts the Wraxall garage supermarket is celebrating England getting into the final by putting together two ultimate footie snack packs which include the chance to win a limited edition Euro 2020 pint glass if you like its Facebook page.
And Scotch Horn Leisure Centre will award a one month free membership to those who correctly predicted the score who were entered in its drawer – competition closes at 7.59pm! This again is on Facebook.
Retired GP Robin Lambert boasts on his Facebook: ‘I was there in1966 and Charlie, one of my sons, will be there on Sunday, come on England’ and includes photographic evidence. see below.

computer techies for the online community
The TEK Hut was started by Ben Parker in the summer of 2018.
For 12 years Ben had been one of the team at The ICT Workshop which provided a wide variety of computer services to Nailsea, Clevedon, Yatton, Backwell and even Weston-Super-Mare.
Ben felt it right to continue the same great service customers had previously experienced but under new branding for a new business and The Tek Hut was born.
Trading at the familiar location in Nailsea, The Tek Hut will continue to offer the same cost effective, new laptops and PCs, upgrades, onsite support for homes and businesses through to a wide range of workshop services and accessories.
