Roll up, roll up to see panto join the circus, and be swept away by a pantomime spectacular that’s just right!
You have until Sunday, January 5, to see comedian, TV and musical theatre star Brian Conley and star of stage and screen Brenda Edwards as the Bristol Hippodrome is transformed into a sensational circus, where everything is possible, and anything could (and will) happen!
Brian is joined on-stage by his daughter, Lucy Conley, as Goldilocks along with a spectacular cast including renowned dame David Robbins as Dame Betty Barnum, panto villain Phil Corbitt as The Evil Ringmaster, magician Phil Hitchcock, direct from Zippo’s Circus - The Timbuktu Tumblers, and of course, the Three Bears, who are played by Emily Law, Joshua Lay, and Charlotte Pourret.
The story is all about Goldilocks’ circus which is under threat from an evil rival circus owner and, with the help of their madcap circus friends, they’re battling to rescue their Big Top from ruin.
Will they succeed? All seems lost, until three brilliant bears join the gang…
Crown Glass manager Kerry Lester went along this week with her mum Sally Simpkins and her two excited children Jasmine, aged nine, and Elliot, eight.
Sthe said: "It was brilliant.
"My mum, the kids and I – laughed and giggled throughout.
"It was very Disney-like in the jokes, that adults were laughing at the same jokes, but with a different meaning.
"There were lots of Bristol references.
"The magic was amazing – really, really good.
"For us the Timbuktu Tumblers with the acrobatics and fire limbo were a highlight of the night.
"We loved the costumes and there was a giant elephant which Billy the character played by Brian Conley rode, and my son could link it back to a scene from The Greatest Show Man.
"The children loved it so much they want to go again!"
The stage was set like a big top filled with pyrotechnics, stunning giant animatronic animals, live magic, stunts, humour and just the right amount of sing song, the show was jam-packed full of entertainment.
